Religious Education
Religious Education, Semester 2 2020
We are learning to identify unfamiliar words when investigating the Jewish faith and
the Shabbat rituals.
Semester 1 2020
Religious Education, Semester 2 2019
How can two different stories both be true?
Students compare the two infancy narratives to identify the purpose of each author. They consider some features of the Gospel texts (e.g. place, characterisation, vocabulary, dialogue, the narrative voice) that provide evidence of how the writers have shaped their Gospels for a particular community in a particular time and place.
Term 4
In Religious Education this term, we will investigate the Sacraments. Students will look at how Anointing of the Sick is one of the Sacraments of Healing. In this Sacrament, words, actions and symbols are used to communicate God’s healing of body and spirit. The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick continues Jesus’ healing ministry in the life of the community. Students will make connections between Jesus’ healing ministry, including giving sight to a blind man at Jericho (Mark 10:46-52 // Luke 18:35-43), and the Church’s healing ministry in the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick.
In Religious Education this term, we will investigate ‘What happens in communities when times get tough?’
This unit introduces the idea of what a community is and as part of that, what core beliefs and practices communities turn to in times of challenge and change.
